In the lead-up to the general election, we are proud to highlight the contributions of three #iwill Ambassadors—Troy, Ira, and Finlay—who recently shared their perspectives on BBC 4’s The World Tonight for National Voter Registration Day. Part of our participation in the non-partisan Give An X campaign, this piece highlights the importance of young voices in shaping the future of our society.
Troy’s Viewpoint on Education
Troy, from West Yorkshire, expressed his concerns about the education system, particularly for young people with special educational needs and disabilities. He emphasised the need for a more inclusive environment and better support from the Government. Troy’s passion for advocacy in education highlights the critical need for leaders who understand and prioritise the diverse needs of all students.
Finlay’s Focus on Local and National Issues
From Scotland, Finlay shared his excitement about voting for the first time. Discussing his involvement with the RNIB and his advocacy for people with sight loss, Finlay’s dedication to improving local support for individuals with disabilities and his proactive approach in reaching out to candidates demonstrate the power of youth engagement in local and national politics.
Ira’s Insights on Sustainability and Community
Ira, based in Northumberland, voiced her concerns about sustainability and the loss of community support. She stressed the importance of policies that foster a healthy community spirit and address environmental issues. Ira’s observations on the disconnect between political discourse and community needs underline the necessity for policies that resonate with younger generations.
Encouraging Youth Participation in Voting
As the #iwill Movement, we believe it is crucial for young people to vote and have their voices heard in this election. Our involvement in the Give An X campaign aims to increase young voter turnout and ensure that the perspectives of young people are represented in the political process.
Join the Movement
We are incredibly proud of Troy, Ira, and Finlay for their articulate and passionate contributions. Their involvement exemplifies the core of the #iwill Movement: empowering young people to lead change. As we approach election day, we urge all young people to vote and make their voices count.
