Templesprings uses the creative arts as a gateway to transforming young lives. Our small charity based in Grays (Essex) supports children from disadvantaged families to build self-esteem, confidence and key life skills through music activities. Music is our powerful engagement tool for connecting with disadvantaged young people, and promoting their participation in creative, social and volunteering opportunities to build their skills, confidence and resilience. We have a team of more than 30 Young Volunteers (aged 15-25) who help us to deliver free of charge performing arts activities for local children and the wider community throughout the year.
We pledge to support all our young volunteers to reach their fullest potential through volunteering and social action, by:
- Empowering young people to truly lead the design & delivery of our programmes & services – with only ‘light-touch’ support from our team of adult mentors & coaches
- Supporting young people to develop the skills they need (and the funding & resources required) to deliver their vision for our community
- Delivering high-quality, enjoyable experiences that ignite a lifelong interest in social action for young people
- Supporting young people to maximise learning and opportunities from their involvement, through personalised life skills coaching/mentoring, and the opportunity to gain recognised qualifications (including Arts Awards and Barclays LifeSkills) from their contributions
