We will continue to offer engaging, fun and meaningful volunteer roles for young people in health and social care, as part of the Young Volunteers Programme at the Royal Free Hospital.

We will support our 150 inspirational young volunteers currently with us, and continue to make opportunities available through partnerships with local schools, colleges, youth organisations and training providers. The programme enables personal and professional development and empowers volunteers through opportunities to feed into Charity strategy. We will also continue the work of our #iwill ambassador Melina, to facilitate peer learning, dementia awareness and health championing in the community.

In 2017:

  • We are supporting the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust by providing a pre-employment traineeship programme for young people hoping to take up apprenticeships across the Trust.
  • We hope to expand the Young Volunteers Programme into local GP surgeries – with opportunities for young people to get involved in supporting their local community in a primary care setting.

We will champion youth social action through hospital volunteering and encourage other NHS charities to do the same. The Royal Free Charity will enable our young volunteers to become leaders of tomorrow in health and social care.
