Nesta Funding Opportunity for Young People

Nesta Challenges has re-launched the Longitude Explorer Prize, offering £1 million of funding and support to youth groups across the UK. It is aimed at 11-16 years old who will be provided with tools and resources to help develop innovative tech solutions to society’s biggest issues.

The Prize aims to inspire entrepreneurship among a diverse range of young people and engage them with innovation. Participants are encouraged to submit ideas that use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help people live longer (helping the older generation to stay independent and active), live better (helping people live healthier), live together (through better transportation and tech) and live greener (helping tackle pollution and energy saving).

Free guidance materials will be provided to help stimulate team applications. Working on submissions can be easily incorporated into youth group sessions and can be run as fun brainstorming sessions. The aim is to build young people’s entrepreneurial skills and show how they have the power to create impactful solutions to address the issues they care most about.

Submissions open from 23rd September until 29th November 2019. To find out more and register your interest, visit https://longitudeexplorer.challenges.org/

Thursday 7 November 2019 is Outdoor Classroom Day. On that day we’re asking schools to do at least one hour of activity outdoors. We are also asking people who are no longer at school to take part and show their support for getting outdoors and the benefits it can bring.
