Woodcraft Folk

At Woodcraft Folk, we pledge to: - Inspire and empower young people to get involved in social action. - Develop new, youth-friendly social action opportunities. - Promote and celebrate the positive role young people can play through social action. - Ensure young people have a voice and are represented in decision-making. Woodcraft Folk will support children and young people to participate in social action, creating opportunities for young people to lead and design projects which meet local needs. Activities will include: developing our residential centres and campsite, allotments, community orchards, litter picking, exploring renewable energy and sustainable development.

We pledge to work with our members, who are Environmental Education practitioners working in schools, museums, community gardens, city farms, and many other spaces to increase young people's connection to nature and sustainability through organise 6 networking and 12 peer-to-peer training events over the year encourage members and supporters to participate in social action campaigns by sharing these on our platforms

We pledge to: Continue to register environmental professionals (Chartered Environmentalists and Registered Environmental Technicians) in order to maintain and improve the environment for young people and future generations. The environment is key to a positive and enjoyable future. Support the environment sector to ensure future opportunities are available to young people with the aim to continuously aid growth in environmental jobs and voluntary positions. Work to develop environmental apprenticeships with partner organisations to further increase opportunities for young people to enter environmental roles.

Our pledge is to work with children and young people to create a Young People’s Forest; a newly created native woodland site, interspersed with open spaces that will offer space, peace and active exploration, by: planting and caring for young trees, creating a new woodland of over a quarter of a million trees helping to interpret the site and forest in a way that is meaningful to them engaging more deeply in designing, delivering and participating in volunteering and engagement activities through connection with their forest, young people will inspire their counterparts elsewhere in the UK
