Emma Sims joined Step Up To Serve in May 2018 as the Campaign Officer for Education and Health & Social Care. Emma is originally from York, and lived in the North West for seven years before moving to London to join the campaign. Emma previously held roles at the Community Transport Association and National Union of Students, working in membership and stakeholder engagement. She studied International Politics at the University of Liverpool, where she was also elected as Vice President at Liverpool Guild of Students for two years after graduating.
Emma is a self-termed social action geek, having started at age fourteen volunteering with a local Age Concern, and achieving her v50 badge as a peer mentor helping younger pupils at her school and junior school with their reading. She was co-head of the Amnesty International group at her college and continued her social action into her time as a university student, volunteering with her students’ union. She is now a volunteer with GirlGuiding and a Trustee at UCLan Students’ Union, and in her spare time enjoys singing, going to gigs, and talking about the North.
