Project Description

Ayla Style

Age 13, England

My activism has always been focused on climate change and the environment. Over lockdown, I was inspired to start an online blog to express my views and joined my school’s eco-club. Since then, I have become an ambassador for Action for Conservation and Trees for Cities, organised online events for Ethical Consumer Week and Fairtrade Fortnight, and co-ran a wildflower campaign called Bee Better. Bee Better involved planting 76 metres of wildflowers across the UK to give endangered bees a habitat to survive. Most of these actions have been carried out with other young people and have shown me how much we can do if we take our future into our own hands. From my social action involvement, I have learnt so much about climate change and have developed skills such as cooperation (from running a campaign with a group of other young people), communication (from being involved with the campaign’s Instagram) and confidence (from putting my ideas out there through my online blog).
