Project Description

Anna Porteous

Age 14, Scotland

I am passionate about the environment and tackling climate change in my role as a North Lanarkshire Youth Climate Ambassador, and have taken part in many activities around this. I attend weekly meetings where we discuss the effects of climate change and what we can do to help stop it. This includes videos, discussions and Q&As. In March 2021, I recorded footage for and completely edited our video ‘Dear World Leaders’, which was created with my group as part of ‘Keep Scotland Beautiful’ and entered into an international competition. I also attend monthly ACT Now meetings – ACT Now supports Scotland’s plan of achieving the goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2045. I attended a scripting and filming session for our ‘ACT Now’ Plan in North Lanarkshire. North Lanarkshire plans to tackle the climate emergency here with a commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions fifteen years earlier by 2030 and I am passionate about supporting this aim. In July 2021 I was part of a group that met with the Minister for Environment, Biodiversity & Land Reform, Mairi McAllan and Clare Adamson MSP, where we discussed the climate emergency.
