Thomas (21) is from Scotland and brings knowledge of how Scotland has embedded youth social action across the nation – especially during 2018 which was named Scotland’s ‘Year of Young People’. A former member of the Scottish Youth Parliament for Glasgow Pollok, Thomas made use of digital media as a way to spread positive messages about young people, to keep his constituents informed, and to consult with young people across Scotland. In his 4th year as an MSYP, Thomas was elected to the board of Trustees where he focussed on the Communication and Projects portfolio and embedded a culture of co-design communications which remains to this day.

Following this, Thomas began working for the Scottish Parliament and works within their Web and Social Media Team. While at the Parliament Thomas has been an advocate for Young People and set up a Young People’s network where young employees can come together to tackle common goals and help shape parliamentary policy.

Thomas also works in a Freelance capacity and has worked with organisations such as Young Scot, The Children and Young People’s Commissioner (Scotland), The Scottish Business Resilience Centre & TreeSparks (a Welsh social enterprise).

Thomas is passionate about ensuring that young people have a voice in all discussions that affect them and will work with #iWill to ensure that the positive impact of the Year of Young People can be replicated across the UK.
