Trees for Cities

Trees for Cities

  • Explicitly ensure that young people taking part in the Trees for Cities programmes know that they’re taking part in youth social action to ensure they can recognise the double benefit
  • Embed the six quality principles of youth social action provision into our programme, ensuring that every young person has a great experience
  • Celebrate young people who are taking a lead in developing youth social action and ensure young people have a voice in decision making
  • Nominate young people as  #iwill ambassadors to represent the work they’ve done through Trees for Cities
  • Grow Trees for Cities programmes to reach 5,000 young people by 2020
Trees for Cities has recently pledged to engage 5,000 young people by 2020. We plan to embed youth social action as a strategic priority for Trees for Cities, giving young people the opportunity to plant trees in cities near to where they live, work and play. We will promote our pledge via our Tree Times newsletter, on our website and via social media. Between now and February 2016 we will be running tree planting days in cities across the county, and we want young people to get involved. Young people are invited to sign up to our volunteer newsletter to hear first about upcoming planting days.
Quote from Kate Sheldon, Chief Executive
"We need young people to help us plant 50,000 trees in cities across the UK this year! Planting trees is fun, hard work, and very rewarding!"
