SYHA Hostelling Scotland

SYHA Hostelling Scotland

We aim to provide a non-formal learning and inter-cultural dimension to SYHA‘s volunteer programme, in particular, helping young people to enable them in developing life-long skills and competencies for future employment and education through meeting the goal of youth social action programme.

  • Irrespective of background, offer young people the opportunity to improve their knowledge, confidence and wellbeing through working with others and residing at our SYHA Youth Hostels whilst exploring Scottish nature, heritage and culture.
  • Assist young people in their social integration through inter-cultural learning and involvement within the local community where we operate in Scotland.
  • Continuously endeavour to develop scale and reach of our volunteer programme through learning and adopting the best practice approach in managing and developing our volunteers and volunteer programme.
  • Continuously develop sustainable youth programmes with an aim to tackle social exclusion by offering groups of vulnerable or disadvantaged young people the opportunity to take part in activity holidays at youth hostels across Scotland whilst enabling them to realise their full potential and to build confidence and self-esteem.
We're still working on our pledge to the #iwill campaign. Next progress update is coming soon, so watch this space!
Quote from Charlotte Hill, CEO at Step Up To Serve
"The #iwill campaign is driven by leaders from across society who are committed to making youth social action a normal part of growing up in the UK. We know that young people want to play an active part in improving their communities, and that in doing so, they develop their own skills for work and life. Over 350 cross-sector organisations so far have pledged to support youth social action, and say #iwill. What will you do?"
