Guide Dogs

  • Develop a range of meaningful activities for young people to engage in that will contribute to us being able to enable more people living with sight loss to enjoy the same independence as everyone else.
  • Develop a Youth Engagement Strategy, outlining how and where young people can be engaged throughout the organisation.
  • Create new, exciting opportunities for young people to engage in social action.
  • Support our teams to recognise the value of engaging with young volunteers in the work they do.
  • To upskill our volunteer managers around attracting and retaining young volunteers.
  • Specifically target young people through our recruitment and advertising.
  • Strive to equip young people with the right skills and knowledge to undertake social action in their communities, to be of benefit to people living with sight loss.
  • Reward and recognise the contribution of young people in the work of Guide Dogs and Blind Children UK, in ways they want to be rewarded and recognised.

We’re still working on our pledge to the #iwill campaign. Next progress update is coming soon, so watch this space!

Quote from Charlotte Hill, CEO at Step Up To Serve
“The #iwill campaign is driven by leaders from across society who are committed to making youth social action a normal part of growing up in the UK.
We know that young people want to play an active part in improving their communities, and that in doing so, they develop their own skills for work and life.
Over 350 cross-sector organisations so far have pledged to support youth social action, and say #iwill. What will you do?”
