#iwill pledges

#iwill can only be a success if partners join the campaign and make tangible pledges of support. And that is precisely what more than 700 organisations from a wide range of different sectors have already done. Take a look at what they’ve committed to do and consider how your organisation could get involved too. If you need help shaping your pledge then take a look at our pledge guidance.

The UK has a long tradition of social action supporting public services. From volunteers in libraries, magistrates, hospital volunteers, school governors and community first responders, social action in support of public services is an important part of local communities. NESTA (2014) estimates the value of time that people give voluntarily in support of public services is equal to £34 billion each year. As a campaign we have received great support from national and local organisations who have pledged to engage young people in their public services and create more opportunities for youth social action. For example at a national level the Department for Communities and Local Government has committed to put young people and their place in the community at the heart of policy-making. At a local level Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has pledged to promote volunteering for young people as a personal development opportunity and a chance to support patients.
